What we do

WWII ALHA provides visitors an immersive, hands-on experience that provides a glimpse into the environment in which the WWII airborne soldier lived. Our volunteers are well versed in WWII history and have years of experience conducting living history. The various elements of the living history camp can be tailored to focus on meet specific lesson requirements.

Beside the historical aspects of the WWII era, the equipment contained living history camp provides an amazing opportunity to discuss and reinforce the importance of STEM with students. through hands-on demonstrations of technology developed in the 1940s, The technology and field gear used during WWII paved a path to that of the technology we have today and many different aspects of modern technology can be recognized in that of past. Our volunteers emphasize the importance and relevance of STEM from a historical perspective.

Lesson Plans

The files below are lesson plans that correspond to different aspects of the experience WWII ALHA can provide. The intent of these plans is to provide educators an easily understandable overview of what WWII ALHA can provide for educators and their students. The plans are written to conform with with the Texas Education Agency’s Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills otherwise known as TEKS. The TEKS format should readily align with those of New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana and many other States.
